Each year Wilkerson College admits thirty-six Junior and Senior Deacons from Masonic Lodges throughout North Carolina. In three special weekend sessions these future leaders of their lodges and Freemasonry in North Carolina will be immersed in the practical aspects of leading a lodge in the new millennium. In these sessions conducted at some of the most important and prestigious venues of NC Masonry each student will see firsthand how Masonry can benefit their lives and the lives of those they will soon lead. Wilkerson College is a joint effort between the Scottish Rite Orient of North Carolina and the Grand Lodge of Ancient, Free & Accepted Masons of North Carolina. During three weekend sessions the students will study topics such as member communications and involvement, the importance of planning, effective officer selection and support, and other subjects designed to help make their lodge a fuller and more rewarding experience for every member of the lodge. At the same time they study new approaches, the well-established qualities and values of Freemasonry that have survived for centuries will be reinforced and renewed. As these thirty-six deacons meet and build friendships with each other they will also be building friendships and bonds with those who will be leading Freemasonry in North Carolina during their time as a Warden and Master and for years to come. It is one of the prime directives of Wilkerson College that those who attend will carry back to their home lodges the skills, abilities and knowledge that will enrich the lives of every member of his lodge.
